Are you looking to do some upgrades for your kitchen, but don’t have a lot of money? If so, here are some inexpensive kitchen upgrades that won’t take a lot out of your wallet.

First, think about changing the color of your kitchen. All that takes is a few cans of paint and you’re good to go. You can usually paint your entire kitchen, if you have the skill to do it, in a couple of hours, but the cost of paint should cost you less than $15, and paint brushes about another $10. Yet, a little bit of paint gives your kitchen an immediate facelift.

Next, think about changing all the handles of your cabinets and drawers. You can buy something nice that’s not all that expensive, yet may look really expensive to the untrained eye. Making them all the same style really enhances the look.

Want to put something on the wall? Art work can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. There are two different ways to go about it. One, buy some posters at around $15 each, then put them in frames around $10 each and hang them on your wall. You might be able to find smaller prints and do the same thing. Or you can go the route of buying small, foam rubber mats with beautiful designs that are very popular today, and hanging them on the wall instead of putting them on the floor. Most of these mats cost less than $10, and you won’t need to put a frame around them.

Another inexpensive kitchen upgrade could be the cover on your light. If it’s ugly or plain, you can usually purchase a nice cover for around $50, sometimes less if you want to purchase something smaller. Yet, it can enhance the look of your kitchen without costing a lot of money.

While we’re on lights, why not think about adding what’s known as a rope light in your kitchen? You can buy these for less than $10, and what you do is string a few of them around your kitchen in areas where they might remain a little bit dark, even when the lights are on. However, when the lights are off, you can plug them in and they give your kitchen a totally different feel.

What about the counter tops? Instead of going out and buying totally new counter tops, why not think about accessorizing them in some fashion. There are inexpensive cutting boards you can purchase that will add a bit of style. Or you could think of purchasing stylish looking place mats, the kind you might think of using at the dinner table, and putting them on your counter tops, then putting some of your kitchen appliances on them. If you buy something that matches the color of the kitchen, people will think you’re a style genius.

There are a lot of other touches you might think of, depending on the style of your kitchen and the types of appliances and kitchenware you have, which will offer other ideas for sprucing up your kitchen inexpensively. All it takes is a little bit of thought and creativity.
