Bathroom cabinets can be useful or mainly for decorative purposes. Many will hold at least a few medicines or first aid kits, some hold absolutely nothing, and many will hold all sorts of other things, including cabinets with sinks on top of them, or independently on walls or in other areas of a larger bathroom.

The first thing to think about when it comes to upgrading bathroom cabinets is how much space you have. This will determine what kind of cabinetry you can have.

If you don’t have much space, the first thing to think about is whether your medicine cabinet is adequate. If it’s over the sink, you might want to replace what you have with one that has just a little bit more depth. If it can’t go back further into the wall, then it might stick out more over the sink. However, you will appreciate the extra space.

For real extra space, think about putting in another cabinet over the toilet. There are all styles and colors, but you can always change the color of the cabinet. It adds more storage space for items you might not want to put in a cabinet under the sink, or add more storage space in general if you don’t have a cabinet there to begin with. These can stick out further than the ones over the sink because you’re less likely to get anything on them.

If you already have a bathroom cabinet under the sink, there’s nothing saying you can’t replace it with something else. However, it might be easier to just replace the counter top. These days, more people are going with some kind of marble rather than putting in another linoleum top, as it’s more resilient, nicer looking, and doesn’t stain or get damaged as easily. As prices have come down, it’s also pretty cost effective, and brings instant class to your bathroom.

If you have the room in your bathroom, adding more cabinet space wouldn’t be a bad idea. You could think of adding another stand alone cabinet, or you can change the cabinet under your sink and make it larger. You could even think of changing the entire sink/cabinet that’s there and turn it into a double sink/cabinet combination. Then you could add a larger medicine cabinet or add more medicine cabinets.

These days cabinets aren’t all made of wood either. There are glass cabinets, fiberglass cabinets, plastic cabinets, metal cabinets; whatever you want, you can have, as long as you want to pay for it. Cabinets don’t have to be a square or rectangular either. There are circular style cabinets, elliptical style cabinets, even spinning cabinets. Some cabinets are art deco styles that have interesting twisty, pretzel patterns. There’s nothing off limits when it comes to the style, color, or material of bathroom cabinets anymore.

When it comes to bathroom cabinets, it’s important to think about why you need them, as in what you want to put in, or on, them. If you’re looking to store towels, you might want deep cabinets with strong shelves. If you’re looking to store medical supplies, you may want cabinets with lots of shelves.

Whatever your need, you can find it for any kind of bathroom cabinet upgrades you want to make.
