Different Types of Kitchen Styles
Remodeling your kitchen could be one of the most effective ways to increase the market value of your home. In fact, return on investment (ROIs) that are 80 to 90 percent are quite common and even ROIs of 100 percent or more have been attained. It is therefore important to know the various kinds of kitchen styles to ensure that you are able to choose the best style and design for your kitchen.
The Country Styled kitchen borrows a few things from each of the periods and styles to provide the country look. This kitchen style may be subdivided into the Colonial American Country Style, Old English Country Style, and French Provincial Country Style. While they may have a lot of differences, all of these country styles offer you a feeling of coziness, comfort, warmth and safety because of their homely ambiance.
For the Country Styled kitchen, timber is a key feature in the furniture, flooring, and the cabinets and other woodwork. Thus, there is usually a timber countertop and the wood finish is simple, with an aged or weathered feel. Usually the preferred wood is maple or pine. Wood chopping blocks are often featured in these kitchens as well as various bottles or other kinds of cooking utensils and jars of flour, salt, sugar, and condiments.
In contrast to the Contemporary Styled kitchen, the Country Styled kitchen does not have symmetry and order. Instead, it has controlled disorderliness and visual movement. Thus, this style permits various combinations of accessories, such as copper pans, ceramic plates, wrought ironware, ceramic jugs, and various fabrics. The usual colors for the Country Styled kitchen are white and cream in combination with the natural color of woods. The highlight colors are usually in red, blue, earth green in the checked fabrics and plaids.
Meanwhile, the Contemporary Styled kitchen focuses on simplicity of openness and form, and the efficient utilization of space. Cabinets usually do not have much decoration, if any, and they are often made of pre-fabricated boards. Glass is often used in the overhead cabinets and they are usually accentuated by recessed lighting. Halogen lamps usually provide the lighting for the cabinets because they require smaller fittings while offering much light.
Windows in the Contemporary Styled kitchen are usually functional. They do not have any decoration except possibly for a blind for privacy and for controlling direct sunlight. Bright colors of red and blue are usually provided by the sparse decoration but not on the cabinets. Colorful accessories are used and they are usually replaced regularly to offer a new look.
The purpose of the Contemporary Styled kitchen is to provide you with the option of easy maintenance and care. Vinyl flooring and eco flooring are often used in these kitchens. There are a wide variety of designs and looks for the Contemporary Styled kitchen. They are suitable for the remodeling and renovation of your kitchen because different looks can easily be obtained with the least expense by simply changing the accessories.
