One of the first things that a customer must put in mind before buying a tangible product is its durability. The materials used and their required maintenance can be either cheap or expensive. Either way, before buying anything, consider if it’s safe for you and your family, because some products that are in the market these days have some potential health or safety hazards.

Kitchen floors are one of the things that are easily noticed and commented on when a visitor comes to your house. Think about it. Some people say that to have stylish floor coverings you have to spend a lot, but that is not necessarily true. You may want to try using eco friendly flooring materials like, bamboo, cork, wood, or linoleum. These materials are readily available, and can be easily maintained, plus they may even be cheaper in some cases.

There are some benefits that you can enjoy by using eco- friendly flooring like the cheaper cost. An example is linoleum. It is cheap and its durability can last for 50 years or more. If you’re considering style you can use pre-designed tiles or terrazzo. They are a little more expensive than the others but you can create more style in your flooring pattern. Cork is also good because it’s soft and has good thermal quality and sound insulation properties.

These eco-friendly kitchen floors can also benefit your health because they can easily be cleaned. For example, tile and terrazzo can be just be mopped and are very difficult to stain. Carpets, on the other hand need to be cleaned using vacuum cleaners because dust and debris can easily settle in them and they stain very easily.

Before installing these kitchen floors don’t forget to pay careful attention to your sub-flooring. In installing sub floors you can usually use plywood, and you must choose an item that has no urea or formaldehyde because they can irritate your lungs and can cause cancer. If you can’t find standard grade items or want to try something different, you can use oriental strand board that it is made of polyurethane which is safer than exterior grade plywood.

In doing so, not only are you helping the environment but you are also protecting your health. As they say, living a healthy life prolongs your life span.
